|Request||Customer needs to formulate a paint to refurbish PVC playground equipment.|
|Requirements||Paint needs to be weather, UV, and scratch resistant, and must meet low VOC and safety standards.|
|Process||To formulate the paint Chemvent customized a process to identify a resin system, colorants, and dispersant to ensure homogenization of the final formula.
With the use of specialized grinding and dispersant equipment, the various elements of the coating were broken down, and then mixed to create a special modified resin system for adhesion promotion that, once cured, is non-toxic.
After applying the paint to a sample of the substrate and allowing for the proper cure time, the substrate was tested for scratch and abrasion resistance as well as UV and weathering using specialized equipment.
|Solution||With the final product meeting all standards, the customer was able to take Chemvent’s paint contract formulation and manufacture the product, where it currently outperforms competitors.|

|Request||A client used a personal care product for unintended dermatological uses. The client contacted Chemvent to request a contract formulation of an acne cream with similar positive properties.|
|Requirements||Chemvent must replicate the positive results of the personal care product, while improving the formulation and removing the negative effects.|
|Process||Our team reverse engineered the product in question in order to quantitate and identify the adverse components and determine the beneficial ratios for the end product.
Formulation trials were conducted to match the physical properties in the original product without the harmful ingredients but optimizing the desired characteristics. The ingredients in the reformulation were qualified as being T.C.S.A approved for cosmetic use.
|Solution||The customer was sent two versions of the reformulated product for comparison. The reformulated filler was approved by the customer. Our team then added color to the chosen formula at the request of the customer.|

|Request||Develop an upgrade to the client’s current adhesive, which will bind a plastic substrate to a metal substrate.|
|Requirements||Chemvent must reformulate an adhesive that was not effectively adhering to metal substrates. Chemvent must model the product after a successful competitor.|
|Process||After reverse-engineering the competitors formula, our chemists were able to quantitatively compare the components of each adhesive.
Chemvent identified a resin in use that had more monomers suitable for adhesion to metal.
|Solution||Chemvent created a contract formulation of the adhesive by adjusting the use of certain trade secret additives. The resulting custom formula tightly adheres to both the plastic substrate and metal substrate.|
